Rafael del Villar Muñoz is a sociologist from Catholic University, diplomated in semiotic studies in the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales from Paris, France and he is a doctor in semiotic too.
His vast job as investigator and academic was recognized with a honor place in to academic work, because he was the pionner in bringing the semiologist to Chile.
He is a nice person and he always has time for his classmates. His speeches are very interesting because they are a mix between theory and practice.
The most important book was published in 1996, its name is Semiótica en el Chile de hoy.
At present he is a academic in the ICEI. When I was in his class, I learned too much. I remember with respect and admiration.
His favorite phrase is "soles y energia", though nobody know that mean. In the rest he smokes a pipe and always he dresses a beret.
He is active member several organisms dedicated to studies of communication how Chilean Semiotic Asociation where he is president since 1994.
I want to have classes with him again.
